Meet the Board! David Gauthier

My name is David Gauthier and Iโ€™ve been a proud community media professional for 25 years. Iโ€™m currently the Executive Director at Winchester Community Access & Media and in February, Iโ€™ll have been on the job here at WinCAM for 13 years. I first got involved with MassAccess to learn more about the industry from other professionals. I wanted to help improve our vocation for all those involved.

At MassAccess, I serve as:

  • President, where I preside over board meetings and serve as a main point of contact for the organization.
  • Chair of the Legislative committee, where I work with state and local legislators to raise awareness of issues and hopefully pass legislation that will secure future success.
  • Member of the Governance committee, where we meet to discuss organizational policy and issues that arise with our members.
  • Member of the Membership committee, where I help to maintain the membership database, process renewals and signups and make updates and changes to our website.

Working on the MassAccess board is rewarding to me because I feel that I have a chance to make a real difference. Our industry needs as much advocacy as it can get and I feel like working on this board gives me the opportunity to do my part. My favorite event is the Spring Conference. Iโ€™m sure it helps that itโ€™s my favorite time of year, but I get a lot of positive energy out of the conference every year. Itโ€™s great to be around so many people who have similar goals and similar barriers to achieving them. The day is always really busy but itโ€™s gratifying to see so many people enjoying the day.

When Iโ€™m not at work, you can likely find me in my yard in Salem, MA where Iโ€™ve lived my whole life. I love being outside and being active. My greatest passion in life is working with young people coaching baseball and softball. Iโ€™ve coached kids ages 6 to 19 over the last 20+ years and itโ€™s the best hobby a person could have, in my opinion. It has also helped me to bond with my three kids, Paul, Julia and John. My wife Jana and I also play softball in a co-ed league in Salem, so itโ€™s all about the diamond in our house!

Interested in working with us? Weโ€™re looking for folks with experience in production, outreach, event planning, member development, and more to join our team of leaders. Please email us at governance@massaccess.org to learn more and to apply!
