The Director of Production & Internships will oversee the intake, selection, training, assignment and scheduling of interns for all remote Public, Education and Government productions that require Amherst Media involvement.

JOB PROFILE: Full time, 40 hours per week. Four months probationary period of employment, reviewed annually in accordance with personnel policy. Work diverse job schedule including evenings and occasional weekends.

Report to: He/she will work under the supervision of the Executive Director. Supervise: volunteers, interns, and work study students
Qualifications: Associate or higher degree in video production/communication or broadcasting. Working experience in cable casting system in public access center or equivalent

Experience: Two or more years working experience in public access or equivalent

Job Responsibilities:
• Production – Schedule government access productions and act as a liaison with local government officials regarding these productions.

• Oversee reservations, checkout and return of Amherst Media field equipment. Coordinate all equipment usage, staff and volunteer resources required for scheduled Government and community events coverage.

• Responsible for conducting or overseeing all editing of remote programming to prepare for cable- casting

• Technical –Coordinate all live and pre-recorded shoots, equipment usage, staff and volunteer resources required for scheduled coverage. Provide on-site, technical support to producers and volunteers during scheduled shifts. Preferred or comparable experience with HD field cameras; studio control room operations on Tri-caster switcher and Blackmagic Datavideo; MAC OS; compressor; Adobe Suite a definite plus.

• Programming – Write curriculum scripts for training the various internship job descriptions, and maintain programming database.

• Outreach and solicitation of clients for Production Plus projects, web promos, lectures and presentations, book promotional etc.

• Outreach – Keep regular and proactive communication with town personnel to provide a consistent and updated schedule of televised meetings and event coverage.

• Recruitment-Keep ongoing communication with the Five-Colleges and their respective Career Services Personnel, including job descriptions and postings, time sheets and record keeping

• Training – Prepare Curriculum and/or update as needed to Teach training classes as assigned by the Executive Director to members and interns.

• Reporting and Staff Duties – Compile and submit monthly activity reports to Executive Director. Provide basic administrative support as requested (copies, phone calls, etc.).
