Job Description


The Youth Program Coordinator will work with schools, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and clubs in Arlington. This person will encourage individuals and organizations to use ACMi facilities, generate programming for the community,  and promote a greater understanding of media. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Promote ACMi’s presence in Arlington Public Schools.
  • Manage and schedule ACMi’s location inside Arlington High School, teach production classes, run youth programs, and oversee youth productions. 
  • Coordinate with Arlington Public Schools and other youth programs/organizations in town  to develop media programs in cooperation with ACMI.
  • Facilitate student, parent, and community volunteer productions of school events and provide Arlington viewers with information about school activities through various forms of communication, including social media.


Position Duties

  • Facilitate the coverage of activities and events of K-12 schools including graduation, performing arts and student produced programs.
  • Provide training workshops for students and faculty in the use of video production and editing equipment at ACMi facilities or portable equipment workshops held at the school or other locations.
  • Coordinate and track equipment reservations, pickup, and return with youth members.
  • Develop media workshops and programs for students and community volunteers, enabling them to use diverse media for various school projects and events.
  • Develop and maintain communication with youth members.
  • Provide oversight coverage of community volunteer and student-staffed school events.
  • Plan and coordinate ACMi’s A-Town Youth Film Festival. 
  • Coordinate and manage youth summer programs and/or camps.
  • Stay current on production technology and software, and advise on equipment purchases. 
  • Supervise and coordinate intern and Sports Producer activities (if applicable) or facilitate coverage with youth volunteers.
  • Produce or assist other ACMi productions as needed.


Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in Media Arts/Television or four years of progressive responsible experience in a media production environment.
  • Experience teaching or running youth programs.
  • Strong technical knowledge of video production equipment in studio and field environments and editing systems such as Final Cut-Pro or Adobe.
  • Familiar with community access television.
  • Proven ability to motivate a variety of students, individuals and groups in a positive learning environment.
  • Diplomatic and tactful communication skills. Friendly and adaptable.
  • Function well under time pressure.
  • Excellent communications skills; verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a cooperative team. 
  • Willing to work nights and some weekends as required.
  • Can lift 50 pounds.
  • Must pass the CORI check.
