Statement of Duties:

Is responsible for maintaining the Lunenburg Public Access broadcast television system and
providing technical troubleshooting support to the station.

Supervision:

Works under the general direction of the Public Access Cable (“PAC”) Manager. Establishes own
work plan and priorities. Problems are reviewed with PAC Manager before proceeding.

Job Environment:

Work is performed at multiple location sites.
Frequent contact with department heads, employees, community, and various other outside media
departments.
Requires work performed outside of normal business hours.
Errors could result in an adverse impact on public relations, confusion and delay and could have
legal and /or financial repercussions.

Essential Functions:

Essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of

-Performs the day to day technical operations of the station and after-hours technical support for
the station as needed at various locations.

-Contribute expert problem-solving skills including the ability to set up and troubleshoot
hardware and software for wireless transmissions, live stream configurations and studio/field
technical operations.

-Maintains, backs up, and enhances the broadcast equipment in master control room, and
studio. Keeps all software up to date.

-Provides hardware and software recommendations for new technology as well as legacy
efficiency and compatibility.

-Conduct live, studio and remote field productions including location set up, staff assignment,
equipment preparation and distribution, videographer supervision and post recording duties.

-Display technical leadership in project assessment, including training the staff and community
members using clear presentation and defined demonstration skills utilizing self-written
documentation and/or user guides.

-Display “best practices” when administering server maintenance, backups and software
upgrades.

-Maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot Final Cut Pro editing software and MacBook computers.

-Produces programming and provides training to staff and community members as needed.

-Consult with and report to PAC Manager on project/production status and outcomes.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years’ experience in computer, video and broadcast
technologies preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Public
Access experience preferred.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill

Knowledge:

Broad knowledge of PC platforms and networks. Excellent knowledge of video
recording and broadcast equipment, live streaming technology, channel playback and
scheduling equipment. Up to date technical expertise with studio and post production
equipment. Website development and maintenance experience a plus. Familiarity with the
Castus playback system or other video playback systems is a plus. Experience with TriCaster or
equivalent video switcher.

Ability:

Strong ability to organize and communicate effectively and maintain good working
relationships with staff, volunteers, public officials, local businesses and the general public.
Ability to reach out to and work with a diverse group of people. Ability to learn and use new
technology. Ability to problem solve and to adjust priorities and workload.

Skill:

Strong videography and audio recording skills. Excellent editing skills, familiarity with
industry standard programs such as Final Cut is desired.

to talk and hear. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the
ability to adjust focus. May require occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
