SUB-CONTRACTOR POSITION
TITLE: Communication and Events Coordinator

SUMMARY
Massachusetts Community Media Inc (dba: MassAccess) seeks a highly motivated and knowledgeable Communication and Events Coordinator to assist the board of directors in an evolving community media landscape. The Communications and Events Coordinator is responsible for raising awareness for MassAccess and promoting community media. The Communication and Events Coordinator will report to the MassAccess Board of Directors and attend all board and committee meetings.
The Communication and Events Coordinator is responsible for managing, organizing, and attending the four yearly MassAccess Events: Annual Meeting, Mass Creator Awards, Spring Conference, and Fall Meet & Greets. They will also be responsible for communicating with the MassAccess membership, Sponsors, and Vendors through social media, and e-newsletters. Lastly, they will conduct fundraising efforts through sponsorships, donations, and membership renewals.
This is a part-time hourly position, not to exceed 20 hours per week.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Planning

  • Manage logistics for our four yearly events: Annual Meeting, Creator Awards, Spring Conference, Fall Meet & Greets
  • Regularly schedule and run meetings of the Events Committee to ensure event plan adheres to timeline and budget
  • Handle ticketing, gather and manage vendor communications, take the lead on event promotion
  • Serve as point person on the day of the event
  • Gather feedback from members and vendors following the event

Communications

  • Send quarterly newsletter to membership promoting events, information, and communications from the board of directors
  • Design Ad booklet for Creator Awards and Spring Conference
  • Update MassAccess brochure and create additional marketing materials as needed
  • Promote events through email, social media, and on the website
  • Design and post sponsor thank-you messages to social media
  • Engage with followers on social media as-needed
  • Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of the organization’s website

Member and Vendor Relations

  • Send annual renewal letters to MassAccess members and sponsors and assist members with renewals
  • Seek to expand memberships by engaging in outreach to non-member organizations
  • Track member renewals and follow up with organizations that do not renew
  • Participate in monthly conference calls and/or other planned membership events
  • Maintain member database
  • Act as a liaison between the membership and the board, sending member questions or inquiries to the proper committees or individuals
  • Review annual Vendor rates with the board, and present to vendors by end of December
  • Promote annual sponsorships, event sponsorships, exhibit booths and Ad booklet space to vendors
  • In tandem with the board, investigate and initiate new and innovative member benefits

 

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong organizational, time management, project management, oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and social media knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience creating Email marketing using Constant Contact
  • Strong sense of quality and an aesthetic for visual content
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience with Google Analytics
  • Demonstrated experience with WordPress
  • Knowledgeable of best practices and current technologies

 

WAGES

  • Wage will be commensurate with experience.
