John Woodard, an attorney and consultant for ESC of New England, will be on hand to discuss matters related to employment, governance, and mediation.

Mr. Woodard, an ESC Consultant since 2004, is a practicing attorney concentrating in labor and employment law in the private and public sectors. A skilled facilitator, John particularly enjoys helping non-profit leadership come together over a shared vision. John is an honorary trustee and formerly trustee and chair of Partners Continuing Care, Inc., the parent organization of the Partners Healthcare System non-acute entities. Previously he served as chair and board member of Faulkner Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Also he is a trustee and formerly president of The Boston Home, Inc., an independent long term care facility. A resident of Dedham, John is a director and formerly president of the Dedham Community Association. John was a previous member and chair of the Town of Dedham Personnel Board, member of the Town of Dedham Finance Committee and trustee and president of Dedham Country Day School. Mr. Woodard is also one of ESC’s Governance and Consulting Skills Training faculty members.

Sandy Batchelder, an attorney and consultant for ESC of New England, will be on hand to discuss matters related to governance, by-laws, and corporate structure.

Mr. Batchelder, an ESC consultant since 1996, is a retired partner of Goodwin, Procter LLP in Boston, where he practiced corporate law, specializing in privately held companies, financings and acquisitions. He was active in the Boston Bar Association, where he served on its governing board, chaired its corporate law committee, and lectured on corporate law matters. He taught Board Development to ESC consultants, served on the ESC board, and was its chair for several years. Sandy has also served on the boards of the Brookline Community Fund, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and Milton Academy and a number of other charitable boards. He was involved in the American Red Cross for many years, and served as Chairman of the Boston and Massachusetts Bay chapters. As an ESC consultant Sandy focuses on matters of strategic planning and governance and is our foremost authority on bylaws. He assisted Walpole Media TV with governance problems and bylaw revisions while other members of the team dealt with operational issues.
